yeh okay then well you have a few options seen you are looking for a bike on farkin under 2grand the...
Norco Shore 3 would be great for freeriding, northshore and dowhill. http://www.norco.com/2007bikes/Mountain/ShoreFreerideFS/model.php?id=145&view=1&deets=2

Now it would probably be way out of your price range and i'm not sure if you want a bike with triple clamps but the Iron Horse - Sunday bikes are really good and look sweet. I'm not sure if you would find one of them second hand to easiely though http://www.ironhorsebikes.com/sunday.html

Now i am not a big fan of Kona's but if you did want one you could defiantly pick up a stinky everyone is selling them at the moment http://www.konaworld.com/bikes/2k7/STINKY/index.html

Or if you wanted to go extreme you could even have a look at the Yeti ASX this is an awesome bike and looks sweet. Don't fall in love with it though if you don't have the money because they are not cheap. I have a mate who maybe selling his old ASX frame it is a silver one and in quite good condition. I could find out if you wanted to know more. Anyway the site for the yeti is http://www.yeticycles.com/Bikes/BikesASX.cfm.

I hope this has been of help to you and hasn't completly overwhelmed you. Well have fun choosing your bike and then riding it.

you wouldnt really want a DH comp for freeriding, its a bit too long and too slack for that kind of riding

look for something with more steeper head angle and a shorter wheel base

Have a good look at the Giant Faiths that are in the for sale section. If I wasn't broke I would be considering one of them.

You need something that can be pedalled up hills, for example I used to ride a SC Bullit for "freeriding" and also DH racing, I could ride it anywhere, even did a few all day XC style rides on it. Now I have an Orange 223 and I NEVER pedal it up hills, but its much faster going downhill, I have an old Kona Stinky for trail riding now.

so look for a bike that is marketed as a Freeride bike, not a DH bike and you should be ok.

Hope that helped.

The 07 Norco Shore 3 has a suggested new retail of $2,750. If you pick a good one up for sub $2,000 then go for it dude!!!;)

Not necessarily. If you race DH then a proper DH bike with triples, a single ring and a slack head tube will serve you much better. Also what bike it is makes a lot of difference.

The latest [R]evolution magazine has a review on the Giant Reign X1, pretty good write-up. It got a pretty good review and they reckon it would be good for DH, price is around $3400 rrp new. It may well be the next bike i buy.
