View Full Version : Noteworthy Purchases Thread

Ok, this idea is poached off another forum but it was progressing really well so I thought I'd give it a try here. As the title suggests post up your noteworthy purchases when you get them and are keen to show with the rest of the world.

Examples could be: A new phone, sporting equipment, cars, houses, toys, pets, clothes anything you have just bought and are proud of. Not omgzzzzzz I got some mie goreng.

General rules of this thread are if you are not posting an actual picture of something, only make positive comments towards what other people are showing. Know one wants to see a comment like 'that phone sux' or whatever it may be. Feel free to ask questions about things and it can also act as a resource for people looking at buying certain products. If you are unsure of what this thread is all about, I will show an ideal example below.

Another rule: Pics or don't bother!!!

Nah, you beat me but I made the ideal example below. Its not meant to be the best things you have bought, rather things you are proud of and you post them up when you just get them. This way the thread stays alive and people post up relevant things.

Everyone knows that they look like.
Ipod Shuffle, been through the wash a few times, dropped it going down a hill on my roadie, and spilt gatorade all over it and its still kicking. Can use them as a USB too. Bought it for $120 and use it more than ipod video.

I have a shuffle, they are pretty damn awesome. Loving the blue, but I only payed $115 for mine:D . People often say, 1gb is so small, why would you want that and you can't even see what song is playing.. Answer, put what the fuck songs you want on there and you will know whats going to be playing...as simple as that!
Battery life is awesome, I was surprised when it kept on going, going and going. I originally bought mine to use when doing some casual road riding...but as things have turned out...I haven't. Oh one question Tristan, have you used the sucker riding yet?

As for my stuff, will post up some stuff soon...just can't be arsed at the moment. An obvious would be my bike, but I guess that's what Post your ride section is for.

Answers: Yeah, 1gb is fine. Especially because it doesn't have a screen. I had an 80gb video which got stolen last week, and i didn't use it as much as this just for the pure fact i couldn't be arsed to carry it around everywhere. The battery life is amazing huh. Before the video, i had one of the old shuffles (the little white elongated ones) and it was amazing. Lasted 2 years and i was recharging like once every 2 weeks, but then the connection to my computer failed. I wasn't phased at all. I felt i had got my money's worth and thats why i bought this new one.
About the riding, i have a similar purpose. Even before my 80gb got stolen i had sorta planned to get one of these just to use riding. As i've only had it like 4 days or something i haven't taken it riding, but i'm sure it will be sick. So small you can pretty much whack it in your undies no hassles..if need be that is.

Can't wait to take it for a decent road ride.

I can't recommend one of these highly enough to anyone with a baby. The only thing is that this particular one eats batteries & I would look for one with an AC adapter if I was buying it again:

Res-strung meaning it has been re-released with all the same old songs but with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra adding backing to all of the tracks on the album.

I have heard that the album is quite good. I've checked the re-strung version out on their myspace and it sounds pretty damn good. As for buying it...I dunno I guess myspace will have to be it as I am too tight-arse to buy it at the moment.

My best purchase of late: Sony Ericcson W810i. It's not 3g, but it's a phone, mp3 player, expandable to 8gb (current produo maximum size) and a 2mP camera. It's good for taking happy snaps, and the print standard for 4x6 from it is really good.

What Breaka said; re-strung means all the same songs but with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra backing. Now even my parents can listen too!

I absolutely love this album now. The original Hard Road was a masterpeice, but this is beyond all belief. Yes, the songs are extremely similar, but through orchestral backing the songs are transformed from "Hip Hop" to..well i guess a better version of "Hip Hop" in my opinion. It adds a whole new dimension, and even an aura not achieved on the original. Possibly the best album I now own, definitly in terms of Hip Hop.

As for buying it, i'd say just fork out the $20. That's how much it cost me and it's worth every cent. I even bought a second copy (to give to my mate) cos i wanna support the boys all the way.

In short: It's one might fine album with amazing songs. I'm in love.

There's a new song (as far as i'm aware) on the very end called Roll On Up. It's pretty sweet, lyrically brilliant.

Maybe he bought HER for a short period of time ie. 1hr :D no ffence intended if she is actually a cousin, sister, girlfriend, auntie, grand-mother, mother, great-aunt, niece, neighbour and so on.

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot to mention about the 1gb iPod nano shuffle is the usb charger. This is pretty cool IMO as it gives the iPod something to sit in whilst charging as opposed to your iPod just sitting on a desk, computer or whatever.

Nice wheels dude, I haven't skated in a while.....sort of only the occasional skate to check the surf for me now days.

Last deck and wheels i bought (had old trucks) where imported from US. My mate did a big import (shoes, deck, wheels, trucks, brearings etc) so I jumped in. Turned out a bit cheaper but the main thing is I got exactly what I was after:D.

Is it one of those water proof models? I have a Philips shaver that i can use in the shower and it's been great value. I've had it for almost two years and only now has the quality of the shave started to deteriorate. I'll definitely be buying another Philips again when the time comes to replace this one. Although i'll probably end up getting replacement blades first.

The Koboron is pretty shit, in all honesty. Manual focus and it's a bastard to focus accurately. Still, it cost me all of $35.

Ahh, didn't realise it was MF. Frustrating huh. But still, 60-300 is good. I've got a fixed 300 and it's far to long. But for $35, i recon you got a bargain.

my stereo plays MDs... needless to say i have only used it once. but so what? such a cool gimmick to have.

I jumped on the iPod just as the third gen came out. Saw it in a catalogue for JB or something and was like "what's that?" That's how long ago. Now everyone is on the iPod train. Boring.
