How come I only found out they were coming to Australia today!? There's only one band I want to see more than GNR and that's Pink Floyd.
I am so piss-my-pants excited right now!

This little old black man walked up to me and he said. "Do you know where you are baby? Your in the jungle!"
Yeowww GnR are pretty sick, cet I have known about their concert for like a month.

yer it looks like fun, but i you want to see GNR your amlost better off seeing a Velvet Revolver Concert to see most of the "original" lineup
and from what i saw tix are quite exxy.
got my ticket! I'm planning on sitting there with eyes closed pretending its the original lineup.... haha
then again, I've seen Velvet Revolver too, so i can say I've seen all the Gunners after June 20th!
Should be a sweet show anyway

You do know its not the real G'n'R band. Its Axle Rose and his random pick of musicians, as when they split up way before, Slash and the bassist and drummer went diffrent ways and made the band Velvet Revolver. So it's not the original band, which is why I didn't bother getting a ticket. Chili Peppers is where it's at.
EDIT* - Beaten to it

i was actaully pleasently surprised by the new albums title track "Chinese Democracy" when they played it on JJJ, its different but its still hella good.
speaking of which, Jay and The doctor can lick my left testical after their comments when they played it. bagging GNR cause most of the original lineup have left.... guy, exactly how many original band members are left in Frenzal ?
revolving band members didnt seem to hurt Pink Floyd.....
Speaking of all things VR, new album due out in July i think? cant wait....
i have half considered going but tix are somthing like $200?? :o
I saw them at Eastern Creek in 92? Last time it was GNR & Skid Row, this time it is the Axl & Sebastian Show. Same support band though, Rose Tattoo.
I wouldn't waste my money this time round.

in all honesty though, the band was destined for major changes when Izzy cleanded up and left and Stephen Adler was booted. Matt Sorum changed their sound wayyyy too much and Izzy was the real song writing genius, not slash and Axl.

I wouldn't waste my money this time round.I saw them in '92 as well at Slane Castle. Axl Rose probably isn't worth the ticket price on his own but I'm still tempted.

That would have been awesome!
Yeah looking forward seeing Seb Bach as well. Although I'm hoping their vocals talents aren't as aged as they are....

I don't know too much about Guns n Roses but if slash isn't going and the only original member is Axl, I deem it not worth going to.

I know it's only Axl who is the only "real" Gunner, but he is mainly what made GnR who they are/were, with a very unique voice. A lot of people can make the same noise come out of an instrument, but a voice is always unique.

oh FFS, if you are going to quote them, quote them properly. sheesh!
"You know where you are
You're in the jungle baby
You're gonna die"
pffffftt!
completely back on topic: could still be a good gig without slash et al, but I would only fork over the folding if it were the original line up. it would be sort of like going to to see INXS without Michael.

mate of mine went to see INXS recently and he said seeing them without Michael was just like watching a cover band, good but not the real thing...
and i think Mikes Quote if from an AXL interview when a black dude tried to scare Axl and Izzy in New York when they first went there.

He also kept running off to change costume, (the best bit of the gig was Slash's solo in a 12-string acoustic version of the Stones' Wild Horses while Axl was changing into hot pants).

'Axl Rose has thrown Josh Homme’s side project Eagles of Death Metal off Guns n Roses tour after they were poorly received at a gig last week.
The band were playing the Cleveland leg of the Chinese Democracy tour when reports say they were booed for the entirety of their set with some of the Guns fans later calling the band’s show "horrid at best" and describing their music as "pretty fucking lame," with a set of songs that sounded "almost the same."
A few songs into his own set, Axl Rose said: "So, how'd you like the Pigeons of Shit Metal? Don't worry, that's the last show they're playing with us."
According to Metal Injection, Eagles of Death Metal’s lead singer Jesse Hughes responded with this statement: “At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow it had become paradise city. Although Axl tried to November rain on our parade, no sweet child o’ mine can derail the EODM night train. We say live and let die.”

I'm going. As much as there's no Duff, no Slash and no Izzy, what I've heard of the new lineup sounds pretty damn good, and they've still got Dizzy. Going to get my tickets tomorrow - they are a bit exxy though, but hopefully well worth it.
I know this is kind of a grave dig, but I just got back and it was frickin awesome. I only saw Rose Tattoo's last couple of songs, I've never really been into them but I enjoyed it. Sebastian Bach, what can I say... The man is brilliant - definitely going to be keeping an eye out for his stuff in the future. As for GNR, to all the naysayers I have 4 words - Live And Let Die. They played this second, and I got goosebumps, it was that good. About the only thing I found a little wierd were a couple of the solos, mainly cause Finck, Bumblefoot and Fortus have such different styles to Slash.
What I can remember of the setlist, in no particular order - Live and Let Die, Knockin on Heaven's Door, The Blues (new), IRS (new), Better (new), Madascar (new), My Michelle, Paradise City, You Could Be Mine, Mr Brownstone, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child o' Mine, November Rain... Apologies if I've forgotten any, I'm dead on my feet.
They didn't come on till around quarter to twelve, which meant we were waiting for about an hour after Sebastian Bach, but it was worth the wait. Axl spat the dummy when some moron chucked a water bottle at him, and he even said that the band weren't really into it tonight, but the two hour-ish set they did was fucking fantastic. One of my mates said they topped Metallica's tour for the Black album, they were that good. 5/5 for the show, my only regrets being I was sitting rather than standing and I don't have a ticket for tomorrow's show as well.

So did you see pink Floyd in Jan this year when they came out ? (Less Dave Gilmour) most likely the last chance you had to see them here in Aus

Being able to top Metallica on the Black tour is nothing to write home about!

He reckoned that was the best show he'd seen, and this topped it... his opinion, anyway
I don't know why but I bought a ticket to their 2nd Sydney show... half price and for $60 it's worth it to say "meh, Velvet Revolver were better" ;)
I just scored 2 tix to Sunday night show!!
Now that I am not paying, I should be a good show. :p

I suppose you two also slow down to get a good look at car wrecks too?
Actually I'd go for $60, but I'm up to my arse for the Heaven and Hell tickets!
Hahah yeah, I've been to quite a few really spastic DIY punk/noise/art gigs lately and really am enjoying the "4 retards and a microphone" approach to music... hence seeing GnR will fit right in there ;) Nothing quite like watching someone go down with the ship in a slow and painful manner.
rik mate, you just might be surprised...
I went to the sold out Brisbane show. Absolutely amazing. To all the haters, even without the original lineup, they were still a bloody professional band. The pyro and antics were beautiful and I got goosebumps during a few songs. Axl was perfect.
Seb Bach was fucking fantastic too. They played heaps of old Skid Row, much to my liking.
I've now seen Velvet Revolver and Gunners, Gunners definately had a much more entertaining show thats for sure.
In conclusion, I feel sorry for anyone who didn't go purely because "it's not the original lineup". I was a bit worried they wouldn't deliver, but that was blown away the second they opened with Welcome to the Jungle.
GNR = WOFTAM. I'm glad Bach kicked arse as that made the night worthwhile, I couldn't even handle an hour of the Axl Grease band and value my sleep more than I do my shit music.
Sorry Rik, I have to disagree. I thought it was fvcking fantastic. While Seb Bach is the ultimate rock n roll frontman I think GNR outclassed them last night.
It was the first "Stadium" gig I have been to since the last gunners concert (as far as I can remember) & allthe ingredients were there for a kick ass stadium rock show:
-Pyro
-Gratuitous solos by players that had serious chops
-epilepsy inducing Videoscreens & light show
-Mixture of old hits and new songs
-Grandious intros to already overblown songs (Does Novemeber rain really need another 4 minute piano intro? I say Hells Yes!)
-Duets with front men of support bands
-Call & Response with audience
-Audience cam focusing on hot blonde girls
I didn't thinkmuch of Seb Bachs new stuff but was happy they played Big Guns & Monkey Business among other Skid Row songs. I fvcken love Skid Row.
I was impressed with the New GNR songs, thought they held up well in the Use Your Illusion vein. I think the duets with Seb Bach (my Michelle) and Angry Anderson (Nice Boys) were a highlight. Some of the axe wankery went on a bit but it was loud and it is a stadium gig so I was happy to watch. The lead guitar only version of Don't Cry was great and finishing with Paradise City was perfect.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, & i have semi lost my voice which is a sign of a good show!

How were Rose Tattoo minus the late Pete Wells?
Was he the guitarist?
I found them rather boring. Angry was funnily drunk, but they're music was boring bogan rock. Everytime the guitarist had an awesome chance to bust out a big one, he played some half assed boring slide shit instead.

As opposed to the interesting bogan rock of G'n'R?
Pete was the guitarist... A mean slide player who owned a tattoo shop on Parramatta Road at Annandale, and died of prostate cancer (hence Angry's appearances on Cancer ads lately)
Rose Tattoo run hot or cold, I can't stand at least 50% of their work, but the earlier stuff is gold, and in some cases much more ballsy and nasty than AC/DC of the same era. I can't imagine them without Pete Wells though.

Gunners mix it up a bit. I'll be first to admit, before the show, I'd never seen so many bogans in one place before. But Gunners mix it up between fast/slow, heavy/soft, ballsy/melodic. Every Rose Tattoo song was the same friggin tempo. I think there was one faster song from memory.
In conlcusion, GNR were on a totally different level to Rose Tattoo. A better one
Sorry Rik, I have to disagree. Hmm... I accept your view even though it's wrong. I'd like to add my thoughts but can't be arsed right now, I think the difference of opinion can be explained though:
You were drunk.
I was sober.
:(

But not as drunk as I could have, or would have liked to have, been :p
Can we discuss at Napalm Death 7th July, Manning Bar. We can both be drunk!
