Hi. Me and 4 mates are driving up to perisher Late june to snowboard for 5 days. I just got sent out a mag with all the acomodation prices and what not and am clueless as where to go. I've narrowed it down (but not by much) to 11 places which are affordable and include meals and ski passes.
Matterhorn
Perisher Manor
Sundeck
Chalet Sonnenhof
Peer Gynt
Heidi's Chalet
Snowy Gums Lodge
Smiggins Hotel
The Lodge
Snow Bunny
Lodge 21
Close to the lifts is a must. A bar would be nice as would guest parking. Would prefer somewhere thats not marketed as a family type place (eg. doesn't have hundreds of kids running around), but beggars can't be choosers. I really just need some help crossing off a few places because at the moment I'm stumped.
Si
PS: Too many places for a poll, so i need to at least cross one off to get the poll happening.
EDIT: Would also like some info on good places to hire boards. I'm planning on trying a few boards to work out what I want to buy for next season so want quality boards. Also any farkers going to be working up at Perisher from about the 20th-30th of June?

OK, obviously I haven't stayed at any of them ;) but from my local knowledge...
Matterhorn, good location, would be $$$
Perisher Manor, fantastic location, would be mega $$$
Sundeck, ditto
Chalet Sonnenhof, bit of a hike with luggage or back from last lifts, should be pretty good, nice owners... I've heard good reports from people who have stayed, should be reasonable $$$ I work next door ;)
Peer Gynt, great in mid winter, sucks with no snow... at North Perisher. Miles from anything. Nice owners, great food.
Heidi's Chalet: no idea
Snowy Gums Lodge, in smiggins, actually very nice, spent most of a night there ;) reasonable $$$ good location for Smigs. Interesting bar...
Smiggins Hotel, good food, good beer... no idea about anything else
The Lodge :NFI
Snow Bunny: NFI
Lodge 21: NFI

Sundeck! Great view of the halfpipe when its in full swing. One of the nicest places to stay (even though I've never once stayed overnight, I've had my fair share of drunken 3am stumbles up the slopes to where we usually stay, 100m up the hill)
Staying on the slopes has a big benifit to trudging across the creek to the lifts.

Wow, cheers for that guys. Sundeck is sounding pretty good and surprisingly inst too pricey. Already helped a lot. Having another think about it a good atmosphere/good bar is a must! Where do most of the younger people (18-mid 20's) tend to hang out / drink on the mountain?

Depends what side of the mountain you're on. Perisher is pretty dead in the way of good entertainment. Again though, Sundeck has a decent bar, live music, and Schnapps Night!! A definite must wherever you're staying in Perisher.:)

Chalkie the Sundeck has got you & your mates names written all over it. The bar manager (Cameron) is really sweat with a lot of shit that goes down as long as you don't make asses of yourselfs.
You can ski or board down to the lifts in the morming & get last lift up the V8 in the afternoon.
I work down there every winter & still recommend Jindabyne as the go out & get shit faced venue & to pick up iF that is your thing, the nightlife on the mountain can get pretty quite at times.
Have a great time I will look out for four blokes going off.
PS: afternoon drinks from 4pm at the Sundeck is the way to go, that may set up the night activities up for the boys.
See ya down there :)

Cheers sledger, looks like the place to be. Also can someone recommend a good board hire place. Never been to perisher so I have no idea where to look, and would hate to get up there only to be stuck with a shitty set-up.

Rhythm sports at Cooma just on the left when you arrive just after the 24hr petrol station is a great store with great gear & cheap as & they have new quality gear every year.
Perisher valley ski/board rental in the Perisher center also have new gear however is heaps more expensive about 30% to hire. The thing is if you break or lose your gear & don't get it from Perisher you will need to hire it all over again, the price you pay for convenience I guess.
I spend a lot of time looking for lost boards in the snow during the season due to people not wearing their leg strap & securing there ride to their boot.
Hope this helps
