I just bought a Specialized S-Works Hemi Al frame and am about to start the build up for it.

I use Hope M4 monos on my Santa Cruz and was considering going for the same or just a Mini double piston on the Speshy as it has tabs for them on the back.
I love discs for their power and modulation/control.

But...overkill?

Should I just stick with an XTR caliper instead?

Thanks all.

Oh yeah, I'm kinda new to the BMX thing.

XTR Vs should be plenty, just keep he cables clean.

i'm not super keen on the disk mount on your frame, it's probably not worth the weight IMHO.

The cables will be continuous and they run internally in the frame anyway.

i ment clean as in lubed, not clean as in not messy/sticking out.

sometimes the internal routeing can cause more friction than a normal full length housing ziptied to the frame, worth keeping in mind.

Well my friend went ass over tit on my bike yesterday and snapped my brake lever. I now ride brakeless and my advice is keep your brakes.

um, mate, it's a racebike, i don't think brakeless is as cool in the race scene as it is in street/park/dirt.

Well I just gone and bought some Kore Hoochie hubs with the disc mount on the rear hub.
Didn't mean to but they look so good and having owned Kore stuff before I know it's good.

My other reasoning is that for the price of an XTR set up (1 lever and 1 caliper) I can have a good condition used, fully sealed, butter smooth, maintenance free and more powerfull hydraulic set up.

Something different too.

is the spacing in the rear of that 110mm? they make 110mm hubs with a disc mount :S

If your frame is disc ready, I say go for it! I'd recommend a 140mm disc though...

I've got a 140mm disc brake on a 16" and it's great! Braking is really smooth and precise even with such a small wheel…much smoother control than any v brake I've used on a BMX race bike. I was thinking of a Hope Mono Mini but ended up going for the Juicy as my home made mount is not perfectly strait/true with the hub and it's much easier to align with the CPS washes.

There is only one appropriate response to that bike Regan
