I've just received reports and confirmation that new DH trails and lines are being cut in the DH area at glenrock off Gun Club Road.
First off, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU, to these people. We were getting to the point where the NPWS were now considering a DH style trail or two in the park. This is a huge departure from NP policy and a big consession from the local branch. Nothing was concrete but thats the direction things were going.
New trails though, will only serve to change their minds on the issue. The NPWS greatest fear is the proliferation of unplanned, unapproved trails and this just goes to add weight to their fears.
By all accounts these new trails are poorly built, have no regards to water management. Again, not setting a good image of the rest of us. These trails will be closed by the weekend if someone doesn't close them first.
If your building these or any other trails in glenrock, please stop and have a think about your actions.
If you know someone building in glenrock, smack them around the head till they stop.
Want to debate the issue and tell me I'm wrong, please tell me here, or better still come to the Glenrock Trail Alliance (http://www.setbb.com/phpbb/index.php?sid=cac9daa4d9241f978464b92dc180c056&mforum=glenrocktrailal) and tell everyone.
