View Full Version : Working Bee at the Blue Nurses jumps - Ashgrove, QLD
Straight from the mouth of the wise old sage himself, Gav Finlay,
The D'aguilar Range Cycling Club (DRCC) in association with the Brisbane City Council are forming a formal trail care group to look after the jumps at the end of Monoplane Street / Barnett Road in Ashgrove, more commonly known as "Blue Nurses". Click here for a map (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?t=h&om=1&msa=0&msid=105786229025907783188.00000112b7ee1ce0a152f&ie=UTF8&ll=-27.452532,152.975725&spn=0.007902,0.013475&z=17)
The first trail care day will be held on Sunday, July 1st from 8:30am to 12:30pm. DRCC will be cranking out the BBQ for all diggers and Matt Addison will be providing free beer to everyone in attendance*. If you've expressed interest in helping out in this thread (http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=80430) you'd better turn up, because you've given us your details and we'll hunt you down like a dog if you don't!
*Matt may not actually provide everyone with free beer. Or anyone with free beer for that matter.

I'll be there. Do we need shovels or anything? Because I have to ride there and its enough of a trek without a shovel..

you'll probably be able to get away without a shovel, but if you could bring one that be great.

i will be there for sure. bring shovels, rakes, buckets etc can anyone bring some old strips of carpet? i am a local rider in this area and i have alot of ideas for the ol nurses. the three useless humps to the right of tabletop should be hacked up into a cool rythym section with multiple lines.thats just one of many:)

I'm assuming you mean gabba grass? As in fake turf. That should do the job (although I'm sure someone will soon correct me if I'm wrong) and as for meeting leitch.... it's not all it's cracked up to be ;)... and even if your not a dirt jumper, I believe the emails recieved from Gav and Oppy pointed out that the group would be responsible for both the jumps and surrounding trails. And pat, I'm ryan (that was chatting to you out at nurses today). Just so you can put a face to a username :D

Great to hear lotsa positive replies regarding the Ashgrove/DRCC/Everybodies trail/jump meeting On July 1 830am-1230pm. Please Do NOT assume we will be diggin it up on July 1, Chris 'oppy' is performing a 'Risk Asessment' of the area to align what is NEEDED TO BE DONE with BCC guidelines. So please bring ya bikes, some tools, plans and a BIG PICTURE attitude. So no promises on Diggin till we have had our first BCC/Ashgrove hook up.
I have spoken to Oppy about a vague plan for a circuit track behind the Hill which is also a priority for the everybody rider.
As for the PARK Ideas for mine;
Pump Track, Yeah!!!
Jumps as per plan in Canada, Yeah!!!
We need a dedicated crew which can maintain and monitor the park, we need jumps/trail for all from groms to big hitters, but we ALL must remember that we ALL must stick to BCC guidlines as advised through Oppy!
Please get some numbers of attendies together so i can get some catering sorted.
