4 foot wide is extreamely small!!! that only just over a meter, i would have it about 2 or 2.5 meters wide maybe bit bigger

If you're going to use it for airing out then going back in, you'll want it wider and steeper.. If it's just for sticking somewhere for a temporary jump, then that should be good..

the detachable grind box is a good idea but when those type of designs come under impact they tend to break easly, good idea but you can save yourself money and time not having it

These kinds of projects always seem fantastic, on paper/computer ... but they don't always turn out the way you wanted.
First of all 250 bucks is quite a lot of cash to put into a small quarter pipe, is it really worth it?
But if you are confident with the project, then I'd say make the most out of it: make it a lot larger and higher.

And how tall is it? The perspective makes it look extremely short. Especially for a quarter.

its 3ft without the box ontop... and 4ft wide, I would make it atleast a couple of METRES for going back into it, but if it was to air and trick off, make it more lippy and its all good!

Thats tiny. A meter and a bit wide basicly, and only a meter deep. That's not even a bike length. It's more a small kicker than anything.

I hate to say it, but a waste of time.. ive made many ramps.. had one this size, one 4 ft high and one 5 foot high 8 foot wide... they all got used as kickers, apart from the 5 footer.. which was a proper quater, only thing i can say, is make sure you make the deck super big.. like 4 foot plus..
good luck..
and put the slats the righ tway this time.. and heaps of braceing. ;)

all the framing in the design will be made out of 3"x2" pine, what most house frames are made out of, i dont think they will break anytime soon...
also, i was going to plan to make another one down the track to do transfers and also join together.. and it make a 8 foot wide pipe
but i'll keep all the above comments and remarks in the idea box.
i dont mind it being about 3 feet high, because when i go higher.. you have to have a longer span in the up ramp, then more wood, and i aint a very good in the park anyways, i just need something i can practise grinds 180's.. stalls etc...

Because they make houses out of it doesn't mean it will work. It needs a lot of support, the size of the wood doesn't matter that much. There needs to be heaps of bracing, because there will be alot of pressure on only a small part of the ramp, which is totally unlike a house roof.
It looks pretty small to practise grinds. I'd want to go down the the local skatey and practise when it's not busy, cos they'll be plenty of room for error. How big is the platform going to be on the box?

That sounds just as big as my old free style ramp, but your quarter pipe would be much steeper (hopefully):D:D:D.
Nearly everybody's right though it is to small:).

Just some advise i think you should make it about 6 foot high and about 8 foot wide it would be sick may cost alittle extra but well worth it ..
