I wanted to put an 8 inch disc on my P.2 and the BSG said that they are too powerful for a hardtail and could crack the frame. Is this true or was he just talking crap?
Nice bike btw. How does it go with the djs on. I am thinking of putting them on my P.2

not really too powerful for hardtails, that seems a bit of an extreme generalisation, maybe for p frames they are :? .
the djs are good, :)

it shouldn't crack your frame by running an 8 inch disk.... if my psylo's have held up an 8 inch disk your frame will go fine ;) that gusset near the disk mount should stop snappage....maybe the old p3's snapped with an 8 incher
i cant believe that guy when he said, i'll swap u my 8 for ur 6!!!
funny!

Some guy said that putting an 8" front disc on an 04 stuff would rip the wheel apart when you braked? wtf? would it really have that much power?
No. What that person said was a lie.

Snapped an old one with a 6 inch. Saying that though theres no worries running it. If it breaks warrenty comes into play.
i would of thought an 8 inch would have less force on the frame anyway.

that nice big reinforcing brace running from the chainstay to the seatstays on the the non drive side dropout will end all your woes; 8" rotor wise, tis exactly what it's meant for
ye looks sweet i love hardtails wit 8inch discs...
haha thats why trials riders generally dont run discs, the amount of force puts tremendous force on the seat stay, and generally crack them or rip off the tabs of there rolling backwards and brake hard enough, but ui had a one25 03' and ran a 8inch Xt on that it was sweeet...until the bike decided to have a cry

its not specifically meant for 8" rotors sifter.... as someone already stated the old p3's cracked even with 6" rotors

i got a norco rampage and that came stock with an 8inch rotar,i wouldnt think they would put one on there if it had a chance of braking the frame. And arnt the specalixed a better frame anyway.

but this is 03 and not told, those bars on the back next to the caliper would make it alot stronger i think, abling 8 inch discs on the rear, i saw a ht with a nine inch 4 pot rear hydro on pinkbike..
