View Full Version : Which tyres?

Tomorrow it's going to rain, and I'm racing on a clay 4X track, and it's going to be slippery.
Pretty much, I wont really have much traction whatever tyres I ride.
Last event the weather was the same as I think it will be tomorrow, there is not enough rain to make puddles so that your tyres can clean themselves, but enough to mean there is about 2 inches of clay / mud / shit over the whole track.
I rode the minions last time, and they just held all the clay in the tread so I had about a 4" slick made of clay.
BUT...
I have the choice of riding larsens, high rollers, or minion fronts (I have 2 of each, so any combo I can do).
Thanks for any help

are the larsens 2.2? if their 2.0 run a larsen on the rear (backwards because you get more grip) and a minion front

2.35 Larsens, 2.35 high rollers, 2.5 dual ply minions.

in that case just run the larsens, rear one backwards though ;) the tread digs in that way and gives heaps of grip

Definately the Larsen on the rear and the Minion on the front.
Just inbetween motos/heats get a brush or stick and clean your tires. It will help alot

I say high rollers F and R.
Larsens are the epitome of shit in wet conditions (don't get me wrong - they work brilliantly in the dry and loose stuff but they don't like mud!). They pick up too much mud and slip around a bit due to the closely packed tread.
I also reckon the minions would be too slow on the 4X track
I say high rollers F and R.
I totally disagree with that, i am currently running high rollers on my bike and the mud sticks so much, I would say that you are better off using the high rollers to the minons, but i would definately use the Larsons....

That didn't make much sense, contradicted yourself a few times I think?
I ended up taking off the larsens and putting on the high rollers, I'll take the minions up with me depends on what other people are riding and how wet it gets, but I think the high rollers should be best.
well good luck with it:)
