Eastern 26 SLASH 7" COIL
I do believe only one has landed in Aussie but doesn't it look good, Apart from looking a bit homemade. Check out the picture of it in the revolution mag with it's totems.
Anyway what do you think of it link here (http://www.eastern26.com/Products/Complete/HTML/2007Slash7Coil.html)

hmmm not to bad looking, i'm not sure about the rear triangle, it gives a homebrandish feeling as you said. Chuck some totems on it, some sort of chain device(gamut.. etc..), new rear deraileur (in my case sram x9 just because i prefer them to shimano) and the brakes could be changed to some avid juicy 5's/7's.
Saying all that i probably wouldnt buy the bike because there are bikes mores suited to my preference..
(that didn't help you at all)...

I think they are damn hot. The one featured in [R]evolution seems to have Totems and perhaps a few other changes?
I was thinking about chasing one up. I'm selling my bikes and I like the look of them.
Other than that, haven't heard a whole lot about them.

with the rear triangle, despite the homebrandish look, all the new eastern dual suspension mountain bikes have the ellsworth atlas rear triangle, so shouldn't be any problems there;)

I do believe only one has landed in Aussie...
ummmm... not quite.
Plenty landed (over a month ago). Almost all sold out (dealer backorders). Still got the Slash 7 Air and the Slash 5's though.
Yes... the rear is licensed from Ellsworth. Eastern wanted a simple, low maintainence single pivot design.
Main difference is that the vertical tower (from the main pivot to the rear of the shock) is forged on the Eastern. This is stronger than the CNC'd tower on the Ellsworths, but more expensive to tool up for and requires larger production commitment.

The entire Eastern 26 range has been in stock for almost two months now.
And as has been mentioned above many models are sold out.
As this was the 1st year of Eastern26... we were carefull with ordering... had we known the response was going to be so good we would have doubled the order...

Eastern (like a few companies nowadays) are not planning on 07, 08 and so on.
They'll release a new range/model when it's needed. In some cases that may be only a single bike.
I can tell you that the new singlespeed, full rigid Traildigger 24" and 26" models will kick ass (at $650) later in the year.

dayummm that bike is hot
