hey farkiners
i was trying to setup a build day to try and fix up possums downhill track and the jumps up around the tarrawanna mine area, i would appreciate having a fair few people coming as this track/jumps are in a very sad state. Pm me if you would like to join in or reply to this thread, i have not yet confirmed a date yet but will get back to this thread if theres a responce

Possums isn't bad at all I ride there a bit and it has some which are eroded up near the top which makes for a better ride.One other thing does anybody know what happen to the see-saw that was there I loved hitting that and some one wrecked it

The tracks aren't in that bad condition. I ride there heaps. The first track i dont even consider riding i only use that to walk up... The second track is great. There is also another track being built that as a pretty good drop at the start. I hope that turns out well.
A build day would be good though... :) Maybe we could even organise a race.
im not around every w/end but pm me where and when, i'll try and lend a hand.

I sort of have seen some work that starts from the top of brokers nose and comes out near possums will make for one long fuckin track the long in the gong as far as i know

Hey just curious is the possums dh trail the one around the balgownie area with the dirt jumps down at the bottom? If so me and my mates might be keen for it depending on when it takes place. The jumps are in shocking condition after the rain a few weeks ago although someones done some good work and started to build the first two back up again.

Actually yeah it looks like its the track im thinking of, just checked out a wollongong map. Love that trail, hoping to hit up that drop soon at the start of the new bit of track, had a look at it the other day but pussied out.

What your describing is what I've always known possums as. And yeah I came down from brokers nose a month back probably and noticed the jumps were pretty sweet. Pretty amazing really, I remember them in exactly the same place, looking pretty much the same when i was like 12, over 10 years ago now :eek:

SCUM(south coast united moutain bikers)are holding a DH race on the 26th of august,just would like to know
who reakons they would be attending?its a grate day,really fun and the best thing is the track is farkin awsome
so come down for a day and check it out

Went down that one a few days ago. Rough start, 10 foot drop onto flat! The rest was really messy and overgrown until we got to possums. It was awesome from there! Theres quite a few offshoots from the main trail, the jumps were in good condition from what i remember, except they were pretty loose.

i would love to lend a hand. as long as ive got time off, im only down in the gong on the weekends mostly. but will be on hols for the second week of septemeber just chillin out and riding in the gong so if something is happening from the 8th - 16th of sep, i will try and be in on it.
just had a look at that scum race aswell sounds sweet. unfourtunate that i didnt find out about it sooner as im all booked up.

by the way what sort of bike do you ride as i may have seen you as im up there nearly everyday, and no we haven't got a date lined up so far.. but when we do you'll need to bring a shovel alot of water and a good attitude

hey i ride a specialized big hit spec, which isnt that good for jumping but goes good on the Dh track but i sometimes take me bmx up there n hit up the jumps and some of me mates have hardtails so i hit them on them to.

hey guys,
im a local rider nd ride there quite often. me nd my mate who i go riding wit all the time go from the tower on brokers nose. im not sure if u guys take the long way down to the mine on dat heaps muddy track but me nd my mate have found a short cut which is pretty sik. it is the steapest part of the escarment so bout 60degrees nd alot of fun nd cuts heaps of time nd mud out.
we were thinking of builing tracks all the way down so u dunt have to go through nd round the mud but we cant do it ourselves. both of us will come ot help out as me nd him have rbuilt the possum jumps nd done maintance on 1 of the dh tracks several times(rain keeps fukn em up) so tell me a date nd we will try be there.
we have also started on our own track at the top of 1 of the dh tracks nd starts wit a fair size drop off a rock dat is off to the rite of the main track, it has potential for another 3-4m drop nd sections for jumps but has been delayed due to several huge trees dat have fallen along the path.
have fun guys, some mad tracks out there :)

ummm it doesn't look like it at the moment, but we will make it shortly as the track is in an appalling state... what does everybody think of the 22nd and 23rd for the rendering of the track?? pm me if interested

there is a track that starts on the eastern truck stop on the top of mt ousley. the track (fireroad) goes to the radio tower that you can see at the top of brokers then it goes north into a single trail, winding its way down criss crossing over firetrails. it comes out at the abandoned mine. from there you can ride down the road and turn right to go to possums at the end.

The ryhtm at the bottom of possums is like actually good now. The other three jumps are alrite now ay excpet that 3rd one is to small lol

Yeah the jumps are sweet they've got a nice flow to them is the huge one still next to them a mate of mine wanted me to do it but it was pissing down with rain...And sunday sounds like it's going to be good, if there's going to be more than 5 people a shit load will be done.

no work was done on the track as noone came part from about 5-6 of my mates... instead of building up possums dh track, we found a new set of jumps theyre already built up a bit so were gonna fix them up so there a sh!t load better than possums jumps

Thought might be the case , but with five guys you should have been able to do some work on the track .
A few mates and i have been fixing up some local tracks , just do sections at a time and before you know it you will have a nice track there to ride .
One thing that's not in favour of the track is you cant shuttle it , so that could be why people did not turn up to fix the track .
Will try and get down there to check it out
