Wheres the other pitt in melbourne apart from the shed. Im intrigued. Yeh i have contenplated it. Problem is the sheer cost of foam and lack of space. Maybe search some old threads there seems to be like a million

if your building a foamy, make it fairly large, you dont want to over shoot, or get impaled on the framework

build a solid frame, the last thing you want is for it to fall to pieces. I recomend using wooden poles, and mesh/wire around the outsides, and tape the top with foam etc.

line the bottom with car tyres, then a few matresses, followed by the foam

as for foam, find local foam places (i.e. clark rubber), and ask for off-cuts. off cuts are generally free, or pretty cheap

the foam will take the longest to get together, but patience is a virtue right?

you want to have good drainage too, and its a good idea to put tarps on it, to protect from the weather

of course you could take the simpler/cheaper option of just jumping onto matresses, straw, soft sand/dirt, or just manning up and sticking it straight to dirt......your choice

good luck

Building one with my mate at the moment, his dad owns a furniture company and they have dumpsters full of foam offcuts, so were set for foam.

So if your having the problem of getting foam together go to a furniture factory and ask for their foam because theyre just going to throw it out so they should give it to you.

I've had experience of building two foam pits.

Off cuts is the only way to get the foam unless your sooo rich it's not funny.

What DANCLOSH said about the tyres is great;) thats just how we did it:D
