hey everyone i have just sold my stp and am looking for a new freeride bike. As said above i have $1700 to spend on a brand new or second hand bike. I was thinking along the lines of a manik or a sasquatch but i dont want something that alot of people have like a sasquatch or a stp. i like the .243 freeride frame but dont think i would have enough money to build a custom bike. Can you buy the 243 as a complete bike? If you have any suggestions I would love to here them and if you no of a good second hand bike. send us the link. thanks Josh

since when has a sasquatch or a manik benn freeride:confused:..
You could get an old stinky for 1700 easy. They would go alright.
Or better than all of them 'stainz' has a brodie nemesis for $1450
you should have a look at it.

I recommend you replace the Kenda's with Maxxis Minions. I have still got Kenda's on my Six2 and the last 2 weeks have got pinch flats as the tyre wall is too thin:mad: All the guys I ride with have told me to replace the tyres with minions.
Cheers

Hey couple of things i'd upgrade if i was you are definately tyres and peddles. The stock kendas arent too bad to ride but the sidewalls on them are just real soft and you'll get sick of pinch flatting real quick. The stock peddles are also complete shite. Wish i had the money to upgrade the peddles because i dont know how many times i've smashed my shins from coming off. Grips would also be a good idea because the stock ones get fairly slippery at the first sign of moisture. But other than that any sort of protective gear would be a good choice, full face, shinnies and gloves should get you started. Anyways enjoy the Norco and ride hard, theyre a top bike.

nedz read the whole thread, he's already bought a bike, and i mighty fine one at that, ride it hard buddy, and yeah i agree with the suggestions about the pedals, except probably go for dmr v12's or v8's over the welgo ones because i've heard the welgo's dont last to long.

What are u really after? Are you going to ride serious freeride stuff or do you want something you can hit a trail on veery now and then? I was riding a hardtail and then a cheapo dually for a few years. Started getting into a bit of freeride stuff up at Oxford Falls (NSW Australia) and breaking my cheap dually. The guys at my local bike shop recommended a Cannondale Gemini 900, which I bought and havent looked back. Its a great bike, handles anything Oxford Falls has to offer and came with a dual ring on the front, so it is good for the odd trail ride as well. I have taken the second ring off and it still nails uphills OK, riden the Oaks and Andersons in the Blue mountains with no problems (though I do miss granny gear). I picked mine up for $2800 new. It was old stock but you might be able to pick one up in your price range second hand.

I Guess the best advice I can give is consider what you really want in this bike. Most bikes are way over spec'ed for the roll they are marketed to. It might be better to go for a lesser spec'd bike that will let you have fun on a wide range of trails.

Good luck with your search
