How did you get the name billyrock crew? But Ilike that photo.

The name evolved from a small hill on a mates property where we were making our 1st Freeride DH film in 2005.

The hill was called, "Billy" Hill On this hill was a large rock with a flat top about 8-9 mtres high and about 15 mtrs around where we climbed up and sat around a campfire on the top of this rock and partied as we watched the sunset after riding & filming from sunup untill sundown.

Thus The "Billyrock Crew" was born.

Again the BRC are just mates who ride together and expect to ride together on a consistant basis as opposed to when one wants to as this leads to slowing down the learning process of our crew and one of our crew policies is that we are not allowed to sit back and become stale as we are always pushing each other with our rides.

Some in our city think we are a MTB Club of sorts, but we do not consider ourselves one.

Anyone can join a MTB club, but we have very tight selective processes involved with our click and as such when we ride others are not invited to tag along because of our crew association.

Those that ride in pairs or groups no what i mean, we energies each other!

IMO,thats embarassing. having a crew sounds like you are looking for some what of power or be looked up to by others cos ur "a crew".. riding isint about groups or anything. i find that if you have a good time with eveyone not just "a tight selected few" you will imporve more, have more fun, and the doodle wang will dissapear from your foarhead.. again. THIS IS MY oppinon. sounds more like the BRC is more of a brokeback crew goin out camping on a rock watching the sun set :p

If you feel uncomfortable with the term "Crew", well how about i replace it with something else like: mob, gang, club, troop, group, mates, i could go on but you get the point (well i am assuming you do).

Now with regards to riding with others, again its horses for courses mate, you may like riding with strangers but we do not and heres one example of "why".

About 4 months ago we had a couple of tag along guest riders who sort of ended up with our crew one evening as we headed out into town to hit up some street spots, they looked and sounded like ok decent guys untill a close hit with a car caused them to show their real colours but screaming insultive verbal abuse at some car drivers and sounding off and acting like complete dickheads.

Now in a big city this is not too much of a problem, but in Tamworth it is and as such i had to stop the ride, and tell the pricks, that they are to piss off and do not bother hooking up with us again.

Our crew is aware that we are not just representing our own click of riders here in Tamworth, but also bicycling in general and as such it is our responsibility to showcase our sport and each other in the best light.

Now you can ride with whoever you like thats your choice, but just because i do not agree with you does not mean that a doodle wang suddenly found its way stuck onto my head as again its about choices, and our crew is large enough to push each other without strangers joining in and giving ther opinion on our riding.

i agree with you, cause it is fun riding with other people. And even people you dont know and here their life story in 3 minutes

you get to see where everyone in your area is at and that pushes you to make you wont to go out and go bigger and if you only restrict yourself to a small group of mates or "your Cr3W",you probly wont progess as quick as you could unless your mates are real rad *$nts and back flip of gutters:p

I don't see what the big deal is, personally i think being in a "crew" is ridiculously lame, I mean I ride with the same bunch of friends all the time, and we push each other to progress, but we don't call ourselves a "crew", and we don't stop other people from riding with us, because a lot of the time you can learn from people you don't know, and stopping people from riding with you because they aren't part of your "crew" IS NOT what riding should be like, and in my opinion that is a very ignorant point of view. But maybe being in a "crew" gives people a sense of acceptance, of some sort, I don't know, people have all sorts of insecurities, but every body is entitled to their own opinion. Ride in a "crew" or don't ride in a "crew", riding is riding. My 2 cents.

Ok, OK Atom_lab just to keep you happy little mate. I dont really care other than seeing posts which move away from the thread topic and tend to pick, pick, pick at parts of the posts which they feel they have some input which had nothing to do with the original thread.

My post was about my new ride and the crew i am associated with and just like anyone else, when a bagging post comes in that is only posted in a negative fashion and not related to the actuale "topic" then it becomes the start of a little game which little kids play just so they can post something even if the post offers nothing to anyone other than the posters negative opinion.

We are not talking about an opinion on a bike, frame or bike part, but an opinion on a name which a group of riders has made up.

We could have chatted about, bikes, parts and other interesting stuff, but oh no, lets talk about the name made up by a group of riders located in Tamworth who just so happens to have a name for their riding group and because "you" do not like the word "crew" or it makes "you" feel uncomfortable then is must represent something else.
