For a fifteen/sixteen minute track there's a lot of straight line opportunities..and officials eyes can't be everywhere on a fifteen/sixteen minute track.

I'm betting those officials eyes didn't catch a red head.

On a side note:

Good work to the Aussie junior team...they seem to be making some headway and preparing well for world champs.

That's just down right nasty, give him a bit of respect.

Mate, you must be a real good guy to imply that about anyone of the team. If you have an issue with anyone of them why dont you act like a man and discuss it with them face to face, rather than imply shit about them behind their backs.

Great effort to all the guys racing over there, of note, well done young Mr O'conner for getting top 10 in elite in his first international race.:)

Top ride hill, winning by over thirty seconds is downright amazing.

As for Shauno, you want proof of the kids' pure skill, check his time against the winning elite time at the coffs state race. He's maturing as a racer, and he's my tip for heckling the podium at the world cup.

I've raced that course a couple of times and I'm blown away by Shauns time.
I weight about twice what he does, so gravity helps out on the long straight he must have pedaled like crazy for the whole track!
Oh yeah, and there's the little point of him being able to school most seniors on how to corner....
Well done to Shaun.
And if anyone has anything else negative to say about him, come and say it to me.

alllllllllllllll down hill....there's some straights but where there is super fast sections there's also some very slow sections too....espcially up the top....and the bottom 4 min or so is A-line... i was doing it in 30-35 min...stoping at least 5 times with arm pump...and that was after spending a season there too..

Farkin Oath! Sammy Hill 1st, daylight 2nd and then the rest. But then seeing how he can rip it up in the mud on other WC stages when the only faster riders posted times in the dry, it's no surprise.

and as others have asked "Where's Rennie?"

Shaun is still too young!

The UCI changed the rules a couple of years ago, meaning to race junior you must actualy BE a junior, no younger.

The crappest part of that is, none of our Aussie Juniors (like Tracey Hannah or Shaun) can ever beat the 3 out of 3 junior world championships like Vico and A-C Chasson)

If anyone wants to read Shauns race report she has been sending from his firt trip O/S you can get a copy from his web page.

Yeh, what happened to good old Rennie?? But good on Australia!! We are definitely showing that for a small country we sure do kick arse in the sporting world, not just mountain biking..

Qick question from a newbie. If they go 1 minute apart, and Sam passed Lopes, how did Lopes finish inside a minute behind Sam?

pieno

Man that was a hard race in the mud! More like a cross country race than downhill. Should of seen Sam almost crash on the last drop right before the finish line! Weather is now good over here!

Because the riders can start anytime within a 5 sec period, ie. if Lopes started right at the end of the start window, & Sam started right at the start of the 5 sec window, then they would be 55 secs apart on the track.

Or it could be Crankworks has a reputation for fudging results when they get it wrong:rolleyes:
