Extending travel on dj3s

I've got a hardtail with 5 inch forks which are creaking like buggery, ready to snap! I need something to tide me over until I can get a good set of forks again. I can get my hands on some supercheap djs, and I just read about a travel extension kit you can get: pushes the travel up to 120mm.

Not perfect, but better than not riding.

Anyone ever do this?
Does the fork get more flexy?
Does the travel feel okay?
How much did it cost in $AUS?
Was it worth it over all?

Thoughts/suggestions welcome.

don't know how recently it goes to. it says to 05, but maybe it might fit later models too.
