Just out of interest.
Do you play around with the seat height of your DH rig much, or (like me) just set and forget??
If you adjust it, why and when?
Not applicable for FR / Dual duty rigs please, just race bikes only.

I put mine up before riding on Saturday. I'm tall, the seat was low, I put it up about 2 inches and hey presto, that feels better!
It's not something I had really bothered with previously, but I did notice two benefits. 1) More comfortable seated pedaling (duh). 2) It's not as far from sitting positioin to standing position, something my legs appreciate towards the end of a run.
I am actually thinking of going higher next ride.

My seat height is always the same. I have never had it in any other position when riding.
I do put it up to fit it on the work stand though but that doesn't count because I don't sit on the bike in the stand!:p

Only time I really adjust mine is when I throw my rig in the car. I'm 6'2 1/2 and my Thompson post is as low as it can go, I really do struggle to get on the bike some times with it. It's good though cause when people ask for a go I say yes, if you can get on it. :p

I always have my seat as low as possible. Coming off a DJ bike, it just feels more natural for me that way. And being more of a "masher" rider, i hardly use my seat anyway!

Frame has 8.5 inches of travel and the seat would be set for the wheel to scrub at about 8.25 inches. As low as possible.

For me it depends on the track, open pedaly tracks i run it a bit higher but for harder tracks where i am getting back over the rear wheel more i drop it down 50-60mm for a bit more room to move.
i got my seat set so that it dosen't rub on the tire if i bottom it out. ill put it up a little if is a long pedaly track tho.
but otherwise it stays where it is.

To quote Toodles quoting someone else, "if you need to sit down on a normal downhill run you need to harden the fuck up" :)

Even though I chose all the time, I don't change the bike seat the whole time but it's not like I change it once a year ethier. I change the seat when i'm riding to a different track or riding for a long time, but I put it down when i'm doing tracks or jumps cause the seat just gets in the way.

I adjust my seat height, for my dh bike and my ht.
Dh-some tracks are pedally and i sit down more, having the seat that bit higher saves me energy from not having to stand and allows me to still get good pedal eeficiency from sitting down.
Ht-it depends on what i'm riding, most times i'll have it at pinch knee height,i find it's a good all round height. For when i'm going up long hills,i'll crank it all the way up or when i'm trying out a new gap(trials) i'll have it all the way down so the bike is easier to get away from.

i'm only 13, so, like most, i'm growing, meaning i have to adjust my seat. I also do a heap of Urban on my DH, so i need pedal power

I have my set all the way down because when you go down step stuff you dont feal like you are going to go over the bars. I used to have it high but all the way down fells way better.
