Update from the hospital is that she has no spinal damage. She's still undergoing more xrays for other possible injuries but things are looking ok'ish.
Thank you to everyone who helped her.

hope you get well foxy, does anyone know any details of the crash;
-where it happened exactly?
-and how did it happen?
Yeah, it looked like she tried to roll Battles drop and front wheel kinda hooked up and slingshotted her straight over the bars head first straight into the ground, was a massive crash, one of those crashes you know straight away going to be serious..
wouldnt be surprised if someone actually got footage of it because there were alot of people in the section.
scary stuff.

Just back from the hospital and the all clear has been given.
Several vertebrae fractures and a small scalp fracture was the end result. She has gone home from the hospital tonight and will be flying back to melbourne tomorrow.
I would like to thank though, any one who lent any assistance at all. Thank you very much.
----edit-----
Now I have two hands, she was looking OK, although very ginger on two feet when we left, but was in pretty positive spirits. I think she will be fine, but has a forced 6 week break.

It all sounded pretty minor (easy for me to say), but I think she will be back kicking our arses sometime in the future.
Like I said, she looked sore (very sore) but it didn;t sound major (they did let her go home). I'm sure she will get on and give an update when she is back home (with nothing to do).

Thats great to hear! (Anyone who saw the crash will agree with me that it's a miracle that she's up and walking on the same day as the crash!)
Big thanks need to go to the next rider down (shannon?) who took control of the situation until the Ambo's arrived and helped right through till Stina was airlifted out.

I was one of the unfortunate ones to see the crash.
She came into battle drop and looked quite hesitant, attempted to roll off the drop and before her front wheel was on the ground she was upside down vertical and onto the ground on her head.
I saw her do a similar thing earlier in the day on the same drop and she basically just shrugged it off and kept riding on. She is tough as nails I tells ya. The way she was riding I was half expecting her to get up and keep going. She is a good rider.
Hope a speedy recovery is on the cards. Best wishes.

I went home early yesterday, just before the race run for Elite's. Only heard about Stina's crash at lunch time. Get well soon and don't worry about your gorgeous helmet. As I said yesterday after your first crash, at least it's not your head.
Hope you get well, have no lasting injury and are back riding again very soon.
Hate hearing about bad crashes like this to anyone let alone one of our few female riders.

Fantasic news with Kristina's situation. That is a great relief after seeing the situation yesterday. We were there offering assistance in the 2hrs it took to stabilise and get her airlifted out. Praise must also be given not only to fellow riders and spectators but also the 2 paramedics from the helicopter who went about there work as would be expected from such professionals.
There's a few pics of the action from earlier on in the day.

Hey all, Thanks for the comments......helps more then you know it.
Feel like absolute shite today. Been back in the hospital after a night of immense pain and about 4 hours of solid vomiting. Apparently it will get much worse before it gets beter:(
Might as well give you all a clear statement of what happened and what went wrong though.
Just a silly mistake in a relay messed up run. After haveing a bad crash earliuer in the day and haveing a mechanical ended up running SS in my race run, chose a bad gear to say the least. By the time i was half way through the run I was pretty scattered and just hopeing to make ti through without crashing.
Went a bit slower through the section then i had been, and just pulled up to late off the drop.
I dont remeber alot, just little bits and peices.
Realiseing my right arm was paralised was scary, thank god it was only temporary.
Was in and out of consciousness for god knows how long, even stoped breathing a couple of time apparently.
End result ended up being:
-7 Fractures in my lower lumbar spine
-skull fracture approx 7mm long, migranes arnt helping that situation either
- As found out today, a fair bit of tendon damage in my neck,
which appears to be effecting my right soulder as well.
They also think that one fracture may be worse then originaly though, heading to a specialist tomroow.
Nervouse systems a complete wreck, been shaking for about an hour now, comes and goes. But yehr the nautiousness and fact that I cant do shit atm is what is frustrateing me the most.
Not to sure on how long il be off, havbe to wait and hear from the doctors about the spinal crack, at the moment it looks to be 6-8 weeks.
As for bike damage!
-well I lost My custom d2- all the foam crackled and popped.
-jersey, shorts, socks, my skins, brand new goggles, singlet and gloves
were all cut to bits to get off me, so its all gone.:(:(
-Shifter split along the join.
-rear derailuer cracked along the cage, with a nice bend.
- chain was twisted and for some reason 3 cassete rings were munched on the under side.
ahhh theres probably more but my heads cains.
Justa major thank you to all those that helped get me out, and kept me breathing, when i find out everyones names therel be proper thank yous.

Hi roxy
Good luck with a quick and easy recovery. I know how it feels to be out for 7 weeks :(.
Glad your not paralised or some other horrible thing like that.
And you can always buy more gear! You can't buy your body back if you really break it.

Stina fundraiser. Sausage sizzle's n all. Help you get some gear ready for when your back on ya bike. Maybe even a fun run ride or something. Just an idea to show I care, and that it's wicked sick that chicks are out there giving it a go. Hope your better soon.
Hope you have a very speedy recovery. I was one of the few people there helping along with the paramedics. We all waited until you were in the helicopter. I would also like to say thanks to those people that stayed rather than walking off as without you it would have been alot harder to get her the the ambulance.

Hey there Stina. Best wishes for a speedy 'doctors orders' recovery. With injuries like that, you surely must do what they say. Anyway, take care. And, hit up your sponsors for new gear - or get new sponsors.
Cheers,

(PS I just bought myself a new Fox Rampage helmet (couldn't afford the D2), coz I had a couple of stacks at Granton on Sunday. I have to get a new seat, too. And i thought my injuries slowed me down a bit...)
