No Skid Marks

I don't know how it happened but I now own a Tandem. Anyway,I've been tuning it up and was wondering if the front and rear cranks should be set up the same, oposite or 45degrees out of sink, can anyone help me or do I need to think and/or experiment? I would have thought opposite or ajar but they're currently set up with the front just a few degrees futher forward and both with same foot up at a time.
Any other tips on set up,I chopped down the stoker(rear pedaler)bars so they can't spin the front seat post they're connected to as easy, and I put some widish DH bars on the front for more control. I'd like to whack some tripple clamps with a disk on it and would like to weld disk mounts on the rear and give the rear V-Brake controls to the stoker(pillion)but I doubt this will ever happen.
I also put a fatter front tyre on to save the front perons wrists a bit(rijid forks). The rear seat is sprung and has a suspension post, does the front need a sprung seat. I want to take it onto the dirt.
