Hey,

I'm looking at bike lights for the Scott. I'm wondering what type of light are around for around the $200 mark. I'll be in a 6 man team, so burn and recharge times wont be an issue.

I'm thinking that I'm in the price range that is too cheap for HIDs or good LEDs, so does anyone have any good suggestions on decent halogens (preferable helmet mounted)

Cheers,

Dan

If you dont want to spend too much moola and dont mind a little bit of bodge work then check out the head lamps at Anaconda or other camping stores.
Try to find one called an LED Lenser

I have a couple of them and they are brilliant, for a single LED they put out an absolute sh*tload of light and even though it is LED it also puts it out at a fair distance. More the enough to night ride with comfortably and they only run on 3 AAA or maybe AA batteries. I merely take of the head strap and cable tie it onto my XC helmet and its ready to go

Cheers guys for pointing me in the right direction.

Ended up getting an 08 Niterider Minewt.x2 for a floodlight on the handlebars and a Cygolite Dualcross 300 spotlight for the helmet. I kinda went over budget, coming in at A$489 for them both shipped from the US. Should be some sweet LED action - the Niterider has a 3.5 hr burn time and the Cygo has 4 hrs both on highest settings.

Now I just have to play the waiting game. Whats the typical shipping time for regular airmail from the states?

Cheers,

Dan

Heh, you could have got a HID Technology 10W Lumin8r for less than that! Although there's currently a bit of a wait I believe - possibly due to them being damn fine lights and good value to boot.

Yeah, after reading doggys post about ay ups, I cancelled the other transactions and ordered some of them. Looks like they have potential, especially when they get new batteries. Came in cheaper and I'm buying local.
