Hey guys
Sorry if this has been covered but i searched and couldn't find anything. I am looking at a bike that has a fork option of 03/04 Monster T's or 03 Boxxer Teams. I am starting downhill racing and need a fork that will be suited to that.
I would appreciate it if you all let me know your personal opinions on both forks.
Thanks

The sheer weight of the '03/04 Monster T goes against it unfortunately. Unless you're huge and hit things very hard, I would go with the boxxer which, while comparatively noodly to the Grecian column construction of the monsters, will be a fairly reliable and adequate fork.
What sort of bike though?

Yeah I personally would go with the Boxxers, the monsters are overkill on a race frame like that and would ruin the balance of the thing. Perhaps pick up a newer boxxer or 888 later on.

The monsters wouldn't suit the GT. The Boxxers would suit it down to the ground.;)
The GT doesn't have a heavy rear end to match the bounciness (good word!) of the monsters but a lighter fork would.

I had '03 Monster T's for 3 years and while the damping was awesome I never got over the sheer weight of them. Especially over high frequency bumps such as in a race situation they just couldn't handle it.
Since then I've upgraded to 888's and they're much much better.
So out of the two, another vote for Boxxers.

Boxxers for sure. The monsters are much too heavy and are a pain in the ass for finding suitable parts when they go to shit. Boxxers are much lighter a little stiffer and they are easy to find parts for...:)
