Well, it's got a Chris King headset and Thompson parts!

Maybe the buyer knows something we don't! :)

I don't, know we are talking about a frame that only retails for $2500-3000 tops in the US. It would have to be something pretty extreme to be worth US$15000.

Scamarama.

All the way down to the "Contact before bidding" so he can tell you to buy it outside of e-bay and steal your money :)

That's why it's up to 15k because everyone knows that the seller won't go through with any kind of follow up when they don't pay. It's also to stop the scam, there's probably a few people bidding to get the price up REALY high. That way, someone who doesn't know what they're doing won't bid and get ripped off.

Perhaps the frame is packed with Columbia's finest.

Wow, that is pretty full on. My girlfriend was saying the other day when I was bidding on some road (Gasp!) cranks, why can't a seller just have a alto ego and bid against the real bidders to get the price up. I guess, even with all the security checks, anything is possible. Makes you think about it a bit.

Yeah but if no one bids higher than him he has to cough up the dosh for his part :D

All he would have to do is put the cash on his altar egos paypal account which would then pay his normal account. So in effect, he would only lose paypals sellers fee, a couple of bucks.

To place a bid of US $15,000.00 or more, you'll need to provide a valid credit card or complete the ID Verify process ($5).
so that means whoever bid 15 grand, had to show their credit card. why bother ?

Scamarama.

Exactly that. There's a squad of scam-blasters that target anyone on ebay that's selling suss MTB gear. Blast the auction up to a stupid amount so the seller has to pay final sale fees if he let's it end, and draws attention to the seller otherwise.
