2005/2006 National MTB Season Announced
Tuesday, June 07, 2005

The 2005 - 2006 national MTB Season is finalized and comprises 4 rounds in XC and DH with all to count towards the final national ranking.

All venues are high profile sites which promise the delivery of awesome MTB competition. More events have both XC and DH - better for the spectators and public - more show for the doe!

XC1 and DH1 will be held in Tasmania for the first time since 2000. Expect the Tasmanians to put on a huge show! Readers of other MTB websites will already know that the newest and biggest MTN X course in Australia has just been built in Tassie, which together with perfect weather for mountain biking, great beer and a very enthusiastic local crew: this event will rock.

XC2 and DH2 will be held in WA, the first time since 1999!

XC3 will be the first selection race for Australian Elite riders at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and will also incorporate the 2006 University Games. The 2006 Commonwealth Games XC course will be used, so if you missed out on tickets for the M2006 come along and see what this spectacular venue has to offer.

The season finals will be staged once again at Mt. Buller, and XC will again be a long loop format, albeit with some minor changes to remove some of the more technically challenging parts of the course to make the race even more enjoyable.

Six rounds are scheduled in MTN X. Of particular note is the first MTN X competition to be held in conjunction with the 2005 Australian Bike Show at a permanent MTN X track at Olympic Park in the middle of Sydney. Can you say "Bring MTB to the people?"

As announced recently the 2006 National Championships will be split to separate venues for XC and DH to accommodate XC Commonwealth Games selection needs and to fit in with other events already scheduled in Thredbo. The National Champs will NOT be part of the Series.
