First downhill favourite Barel is out of contention for the Worlds due to injury and now it's Jared Graves. With a killer four cross season so far Graves was looking incredibly strong for the title. He is currently 2nd overall in World Cup 4X competition, was second to Lopes at last years Worlds and has just come off a win at Crankworx.

Since Crankworx Jared has been chilling out at Whistler and preparing himself for the last few races of the season. He had this to say about his crash.

"I got bucked off a drop on a-line, I know the worlds track is a whole lot of steep doubles you have to scrub, so I was practicing a-line on the hardtail, all was going great, then had one of those moments where it all goes wrong and you have no idea why."

Graves broke his scaphoid and clean snapped his thumb in the crash. Recovery time is expected to be 6-8 weeks clearly ruling him out of the World Championships and the World Cup Finals.

Get well soon Jared!
