What I had originally dismissed as wild speculation appears to be true; the Big Bear round of the 2004 NORBA series will do away completely with the traditional time-trial downhill format in favour of four-man head-to-head racing down a shortened, widened downhill course.

Only the Pro and Semi-Pro categories will race head-to-head, amateur racers will still contest a normal, time-trial downhill race. Points from the Big Bear round will still count towards the overall NORBA title.

Right now it's too late for me to think anything about this new "development", all it does is make my brain hurt.
